About

I decided to move my blog off of .Mac into something that I can update remotely!  So, here I am.  For some laughs, here is my latest bio off of the SAP Community Network:

Derek P. Loranca is a Lead Business Intelligence Specialist with Aetna, a Fortune 100 insurance and managed care corporation. Specializing in Informatics, Derek has spent the last 8 years in Aetna’s Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) reporting and BI team. He served as a technical lead for the EDW Standard Reporting Team, guiding and developing reports for an application inventory of over 300 Crystal Reports, all coded against Very Large Databases (VLDB’s).

In 2009, he was appointed to Aetna’s Business Intelligence-Technology Knowledge Center as a Core Member and Subject Matter Expert for semantic layers and visualization. The BI-TKC is the corporate competency center for Business Intelligence and consults on BI projects firm wide.

Outside of Aetna, Derek is an active Firefighter with the Humane Fire Company No. 1 of Royersford, PA and serves as the Fire Police Captain and member of the Board of Trustees. He holds a National Pro-Board Certification as a Firefighter II.

Derek holds a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management and a Master of Science in Healthcare Finance from Temple University, in addition to a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems from La Salle University

I also play Halo:Reach & Modern Warfare on Xbox Live as a stress relief!

Hey Uncle D! Wicked blog, I must say. I have a quick question: have you played Black Ops yet? I’m not allowed to play (Mother says it’s violent, LOL) so I wanted to see what you thought of it. I heard there’s a zombie-killing mode!
