March Madness Road Trip Diary

Day 2: Dayton to Kansas City

  • 13 hour drive
  • 622 miles

Our rental car made the trip easy and the three state trip was pretty uneventfully.  In order to bring some educational value to the trip (and get out of the car), we stopped in Saint Louis and took the tour of the Gateway Arch.  That was definitely time well spent, even though we had to find a pharmacy as it seemed Abigail picked up a head cold.  The medicine thankfully made her drowsy and she slept her way through to Kansas City.  It has been almost two decades since I last drove through the Midwest and it is as flat as I remember. (1996 Spring Break road trip home to NJ from Indiana University with Mike Rosen.  It’s been that long!)  We pulled into our base for the next few nights, the Kansas City Airport Hilton, grabbed a late dinner and tried to get some rest for tomorrow’s game.

I hate heights, but at least I had Abby to ‘help’ me,

That little arch at the center bottom of the arch? That’s the ‘Abby Arch’!
